Bouchard keeps rewriting the record book

Evan Bouchard scored once and added two assists, giving him eight points through two games. After a hat trick and two assists in Tuesday’s overtime loss to the same Canucks, he has now broken the NHL record for most points by a defenseman in the first two games of a season.

Vancouver did not go quietly. Marco Rossi scored twice and added an assist, while Paul Cotter, Arshdeep Bains, Brock Boeser and Jamie Oleksiak each had a goal and an assist. Elias Pettersson finished with a goal and two assists. Seven goals were still not enough, and the Canucks were chasing the game from the first period.

Edmonton now has its first win of the season after losing the opener in overtime on Tuesday.
