Crosby closed the door himself
“I am a Raider. I am back.” Seven words on social media, and that was the end of it.
Per NFL Network, Maxx Crosby told every interested team last spring that Las Vegas was the only place he wanted to play. The message went out right after his trade to Baltimore collapsed.
The Rams were one of the teams circling. Los Angeles wound up dealing with Cleveland instead and came away with Myles Garrett, a five-time All-Pro. Philadelphia, Dallas and San Francisco all made calls of their own on one of the best edge rushers in the league.

Two first-rounders, and a knee that killed the deal
March had it all but done. Baltimore and Las Vegas agreed on a package built around two first-round picks. Then the Ravens looked at the knee and walked away.
Word got out fast. Rival front offices moved in, hoping to land a five-time Pro Bowler for what NFL Network called pocket change. Crosby answered them in public, and that was that.
Las Vegas keeps its defensive leader
The tension had been real. Las Vegas shut Crosby down for the final two games of last season over that knee, and he made no secret of how he felt about the decision. A parting of ways looked plausible. The Baltimore agreement pushed it closer still.
It never happened. Crosby is on the Week 1 roster against the Miami Dolphins, carrying 69.5 career sacks in 110 games, every one of them in silver and black, since the Raiders took him in the fourth round out of Eastern Michigan in 2019.
