Five hits, and one of them decided it
Miami collected five hits at Chase Field overnight. The fifth won the game.
With two outs in the 11th, Esteury Ruiz drove a sinker from Taylor Clarke deep into the left-center gap. Otto Lopez, Jared Serna and Kyle Stowers all scored. Three runs off one swing, and a 4-2 Marlins win in Phoenix.
Ketel Marte answered with a two-out RBI double in the bottom half. Gabriel Moreno grounded out to end it.

Arizona strand 15 and lose ground
The Diamondbacks had the evening set up for them. San Diego had already lost to Colorado, so a win here pulls Arizona within a game and a half of the final National League wild card. They stayed 2.5 back instead, with 10 games to play.
They left 15 runners on base. They also ran themselves out of a walk-off in the 10th, when Geraldo Perdomo was cut down at the plate by Serna on a Ryan Waldschmidt grounder to second.
Twenty-four hours earlier Corbin Carroll had ended this same fixture with a walk-off. The reverse landed just as fast.
Soroka delivered, the bullpen did not
Michael Soroka gave Arizona five innings and one run, striking out six, five of them in a row across the second and third. Moreno had staked him to the lead in the first with a solo shot that travelled 431 feet into the left-center seats, his 14th of the season. Griffin Conine tied it in the fourth with a drive to right-center.
Josh Ekness worked two innings for the win. Clarke wore the loss. Nolan Arenado left early with inflammation in his right thumb, an issue Arizona need cleared up quickly.
Merrill Kelly takes the mound on Wednesday against Ryan Gusto. Ten games remain and the margin has not moved in the right direction.
