Tyler Mahle’s night on the mound
Three hits. That was the whole of Milwaukee’s afternoon against Tyler Mahle across six and a third innings on Monday, and none of it went anywhere. The right-hander never let a Brewers runner get past second base as San Francisco knocked off the National League Central leaders 3-0.
Three double plays did the heavy lifting, snuffing out every inning that started to smell dangerous. Mahle carries a 3-9 record, hardly the number you would pin this outing on. Nights like this hint at a veteran whose timing is drifting back, and it showed up right when the Giants needed it.

McCray puts the runs on the board
The third inning cracked it open. Jesus Rodriguez doubled, Luis Arraez punched an RBI single through, and then Grant McCray got hold of one. His two-run shot was the first homer of his season and only the sixth of a three-year career, a quick flash of the ceiling that keeps him worth watching.
The bullpen handled the rest. Erik Miller worked a clean ninth for his third save.
Timing that counts
San Francisco have now taken three of five against Milwaukee this year. For the Brewers it was a third loss in their last 10, a rare wobble. The Giants keep pace as the schedule tightens down the stretch.
