LIV Golf shores up the books
LIV Golf has a lead investor. CEO Scott O’Neil announced the deal Wednesday, with the tour’s board signing off. The transaction should close in September.
No number came out. No name for the investor either. O’Neil also flagged interest from more than a dozen possible minority partners.

The players are set to hold the majority
Here is the heart of it. The golfers will own the majority of LIV Golf’s equity, and O’Neil calls that a first for any major global sports league.
The tour needed the lifeline. Saudi wealth fund PIF said in the spring it would stop bankrolling the operation at the end of 2026, after sinking nearly $5 billion into it since 2022. LIV had already scrapped its New Orleans stop in June and was reportedly hunting between $250 and $350 million.
Back to Bedminster
The circuit returns this weekend with its New York event at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster. Several outlets peg 10 tournaments next season, five abroad and five on US soil.
