Eight days and one hole in the squad
Eight days. That is everything Lille have left to finish their transfer business.
They are still short of a right winger and have been for weeks. According to Foot Mercato, the main target is Sami Ouaissa of NEC Nijmegen, and this one is anything but simple. PSV and Feyenoord are watching him just as closely back in the Netherlands.
Hardly a shock. The best Eredivisie players always draw a crowd once the window starts running out of days.
Try it for $0.99.
Zechiel: 10 offered, 13 asked, nobody blinked
The second name on the LOSC list is Gjivai Zechiel. Lille put 10 million euros in front of Feyenoord a few weeks back. Rotterdam wanted 13. Neither side moved.
The player has gone up in value since. The asking price probably has too. Lille may already have let their best window close on that one.
A hundred million in the bank, and a clock that does not care
Money is not the problem. LOSC have just sold Ayyoub Bouaddi to Manchester City for something close to 100 million euros, enough to cover several signings without an argument.
The problem is the calendar. Everything gets more expensive and moves faster in the last week. Sellers know exactly that. Buyers in a hurry pick up the bill.
Olivier Giroud led the line at Angers on the opening weekend, so the centre-forward question is settled. The right flank is not, and it has until September 1. Two targets, neither close. This one runs to the buzzer.
