Fall leads the Grenats
Metz beat Rodez 4-1 this afternoon. Relegated from Ligue 1 last season, the Lorraine club turned in a convincing display.
Pape Moussa Fall opened the scoring early. Rodez levelled in the 35th minute. Jessy Deminguet put Metz back in front, set up by Teji Savanier. Fall struck again just before the break.
The Senegalese forward wrapped up his hat-trick in the second half. That takes him to five Ligue 2 goals so far this season. Handy for a side chasing an instant return.

Reims held late on
The other main fixture of the afternoon delivered more drama. Reims and Guingamp finished level at 2-2.
Stanislas Kielt put the Bretons ahead. Yaya Kader Fofana hit back with a double inside two minutes and turned the match on its head.
Guingamp would not go away. Brandon Bokangu rescued a draw late on with a superb finish, after a pass from Koffi.
The race at the top stays tight
Reims remain third in the table, just ahead of Metz.
Both promotion contenders are moving forward, but neither is pulling clear. Guingamp, meanwhile, leave Champagne with a point that could matter down the line.
