Mbappe’s name turns up in a French police investigation
Kylian Mbappe was among the targets of a gang suspected of planning kidnappings and home invasions. The information comes from Le Parisien, which laid out the case on Wednesday.
According to the paper, an 18-year-old identified as Clement is being treated by investigators as the possible mastermind. He was formally charged on 21 August 2026 in Nanterre over organised burglary. For now, he remains presumed innocent.

Twenty-six addresses linked to wealthy public figures
The suspect was already behind bars in another case. Le Parisien says he is believed to have kept passing on instructions from his cell, including via Snapchat. Two phones seized in prison were analysed by investigators.
That analysis is said to have uncovered twenty-six addresses belonging to wealthy public figures. Shop owners, singers and footballers were on the list. The Real Madrid forward’s name appeared alongside that of a rapper and several business leaders.
“He wanted to go after a rapper and the footballer Kylian Mbappe,” a judicial source told Le Parisien.
A case that started with a burglary
The case began with a watchmaker. His home was targeted by fake delivery drivers, before his shop was robbed a few days later. Police from the anti-gang unit traced the network back from those incidents.
No attempt was ever made against the French striker. The plan never got beyond the alleged preparation stage. The investigation is continuing in Nanterre.
Mbappe, meanwhile, has resumed his season with Real Madrid. The club has not commented on the matter so far.
