One gesture too many
Liam Rosenior was always going to get a rough welcome back in Alsace. What he probably didn’t see coming was a former Strasbourg captain lining up to have a go at him too. Dimitri Liénard went on the Club Racing show on YouTube this week, and he didn’t hold back.
Some background. Paris FC won 2-1 at Strasbourg, and a section of the home crowd spent the evening abusing the English coach. Rosenior turned towards the stands and goaded them. Several Strasbourg players took exception, and things boiled over on the touchline.

Five games, zero wins
Liénard opened with a caveat. Insults aimed at someone’s family are out of order, he said, and he has had to deal with that himself. Fine. But a coach playing the big man in front of a stand? Not that stand. Not that coach.
Then came the numbers. Rosenior’s final five league matches in charge of Strasbourg produced three defeats and two draws. His last Ligue 1 win with Racing, according to Liénard, dates back to 9 November 2025 against Lille. The European run? Liénard waved it away without a second thought.
“You are crazy my friend”
What really stings is January. Rosenior walked out on Alsace for Chelsea mid-season, and Liénard saw no hint of thanks towards the supporters who had backed him. So what was he expecting on his return, Liénard asked. A statue? A red carpet? A bottle of champagne waiting in the dressing room? He finished in English, twice over: “you are crazy my friend.”
For Liénard, the coach lost sight of what the club is built on. Humility, respect, hard work. He wore the armband in Strasbourg for years, and that gives his words a weight no angry fan in the stands can match.
