An offer lands on Metz’s desk
Le Mans FC have gone on the attack. According to Foot Mercato, the Sarthe club has officially sent an offer to FC Metz for Habib Diallo.
The Senegal international striker is under contract in Lorraine until June 2028. Two more seasons. Metz are under no pressure to sell.
Le Mans’ hierarchy want an experienced focal point up front, and they have picked Diallo as their spearhead.
Try it for $0.99.
Past 100 goals, but only four last season
Diallo has now gone past 100 goals across Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 combined. That is the sort of number that calms any newly promoted club.
Last season told a different story. Four goals and two assists in 25 appearances in all competitions. Figures that go some way to explaining why this story exists at all.
The profile is still a rare one on the French market at this stage of the summer. A seasoned No 9, available, and fully versed in the league.
The player is weighing it up
Habib Diallo has not made up his mind. He is weighing the next step in his career, and nobody around him is rushing.
Le Mans’ pitch comes down to two words: playing time. A starting role and lead-man status in attack, something his Metz contract does not guarantee.
Talks are continuing. The window shuts on Tuesday night.
