Football: Lamine Camara has England circling

Monaco’s selling is not finished

Akliouche is gone. 50 M€ banked. And AS Monaco still have another big name to move before the window closes. Balogun or Camara. One of them leaves the Principality by deadline day.

The Lamine Camara file is the one heating up fastest. Half of England wants the Senegal midfielder, and Monaco know it. The asking price is set at 50 M€, not a euro less, the same figure they pinned on Akliouche.

A tireless engine now carrying a hefty tag

Camara, 22, is coming off a strong year on the Rock. One goal, four assists, 30 games. He was the pulse of the midfield, steady, relentless, always in the right patch of grass. Bought from Metz in 2024 for 15 M€, he is worth more than triple that today.

His value has climbed fast. Thirty caps for Senegal, four goals, a contract until 2029. Monaco know exactly what they are holding and will not part with it cheaply. Which is why these talks could drag, and turn awkward.

Crystal Palace move first, the giants bide their time

The Premier League is already in. Foot Mercato reports that Crystal Palace, now under Pierre Sage, have lodged a formal bid, with Nottingham Forest lining up next. Behind them sit Manchester United and Liverpool. Both have watched Camara for months, waiting for the English midfield market to crack open.

Monaco are thinking two steps ahead. If Camara goes, they have earmarked Erik Lira, the midfielder at Cruz Azul in Mexico. There is a snag: they would first have to clear one or two non-EU slots. The Monaco reshuffle is only warming up.
