What the hospital tests found
Bayern Munich got some reassuring news about Vincent Kompany today. According to Bild, the latest examinations have ruled out both a stroke and a heart attack after the head coach collapsed at the club’s training centre last Friday.
The German paper reports that Kompany, 40, suffered convulsions after he went down. A club doctor, an emergency physician and a rescue helicopter reached him within minutes. A cerebral cause is still suspected, but Bild says the episode does not appear to have put his life at risk. RMC Sport relayed the details this evening.
The collapse came right after Kompany had led the first team’s session and then stayed to watch the reserves. He was taken to a Munich clinic that day and has been undergoing tests ever since.

Danks takes the wheel
Bayern’s top brass have made the trip to the hospital in recent days: president Herbert Hainer, honorary president Uli Hoeness and sporting director Max Eberl. Kompany was well enough to follow Sunday’s 3-1 win over Freiburg.
His absence is expected to run to weeks, and he will need a long rest before returning to the bench. Assistant Aaron Danks has the first team in the meantime. His first competitive night in charge is tonight, at home to Magdeburg in the German Cup, with kick-off at 8:45pm local time.
