Danks visited Kompany on Monday
Vincent Kompany is feeling better, but Bayern Munich will not see him on the touchline anytime soon. Assistant coach Aaron Danks gave the update today at the pre-match press conference for Wednesday’s German Cup tie against Magdeburg, a day after seeing his boss in person.
Danks described a head coach in good spirits who looks stronger with each passing day. The two did not dwell on tactics. According to Danks, Kompany mostly asked how the squad was doing, and the visit stayed friendly and low-key. The message from the club is simple: let him take the time he needs.
Kompany, 40, collapsed at the end of a training session on Friday and was taken to hospital by ambulance. Reports in Germany tied the episode to a viral infection he picked up about two weeks earlier.

No diagnosis, no return date
Doctors have not yet explained the collapse. Sporting director Max Eberl said over the weekend that there is no definitive diagnosis and refused to set any timeline. His line was blunt: the club is talking about weeks, not days.
That leaves Danks and the rest of the staff in charge for a busy stretch. Bayern sit level on points with Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga after seven rounds, and the two meet on Saturday evening. The cup tie against Magdeburg comes first.
