A slip, and a season suddenly looks different
Last Thursday in a joint practice with Jacksonville, it started with a catch and ended badly. One awkward landing, one foot giving way, and Jordyn Tyson was done. He tested the leg for a few seconds, then jogged off with the medical staff and never came back.
The diagnosis came down on Monday: hamstring. Several US outlets, including ESPN, say he could miss two months. The No. 8 pick in the 2026 draft will not be there when the Saints kick off the season.

New Orleans expected more than this
You do not spend a top-eight pick on a receiver just to watch him spin on a bike. Tyson, 22, arrived from Arizona State, and the franchise had spent the summer building plans around him.
Kellen Moore backed his player before the full extent of the damage was even clear. “I think any player in that situation, with a foot slipping and a push from behind, comes out with the same diagnosis. It has nothing to do with Jordyn’s previous history,” the Saints head coach said.
That history is real, though. Tyson had already dealt with hamstring issues in college. New Orleans managed his workload carefully in the offseason, then had him working at full tilt every day of camp apart from a few individual drills.
Five games without a first-round receiver
“Jordyn had a really good camp. He played really good football,” Moore added. “Unfortunately, that’s part of preseason football.”
Two months out amounts to roughly the first five games. That means second-year quarterback Tyler Shough will open the campaign with Chris Olave on one side and a traffic jam on the other: Devaughn Vele, Kevin Austin Jr. and rookies Bryce Lance and Barion Brown will be battling for snaps.
The Saints open the season in Detroit on September 13. Before that, they head to Southern California this week for a preseason game against the Rams on Saturday.
