NFL: Jed York faces league discipline after Ohio arrest

Front Office Sports reported earlier today that the NFL is “likely” to discipline San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York over his arrest last month in Ohio on suspicion of engaging in prostitution. League sources told the outlet the matter falls under the personal conduct policy, with a fine or a suspension among the options available.

Nothing has been announced. The league has confirmed no outcome, and no penalty has been handed down.

What the court did with it

The criminal side is already settled. York’s charges were reduced to two misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, and he entered a no-contest plea in Columbiana County.

That carries less weight than it might elsewhere. The personal conduct policy lets the NFL act on its own assessment rather than on a criminal verdict, which is why a reduced charge does not close the league’s file.

The seat he occupies

York, 46, is no peripheral figure. He became the 49ers’ primary owner in 2024 after running the franchise as CEO from 2008, a title he relinquished in February. Eighteen years at the head of one of the league’s most valuable franchises turns any sanction here into a question about ownership standards rather than a line in a police blotter.
