NBA: James Harden’s gun charge dismissed by Texas judge

No trial. No fine. James Harden is done with a legal headache that started in June. A Harris County judge dismissed the misdemeanor gun charge against the Cavaliers guard on Thursday, according to court records.

Houston police had arrested Harden, 36, on June 13 after finding an unholstered handgun in his vehicle. The charge carried up to a year in jail and a fine as high as $4,000.

How it went away

The case was dropped after Harden completed an alternative resolution program. Court documents did not lay out the terms, but those deals usually come with community service attached.

Harden has spent 17 years building one of the loudest résumés at his position. He arrived as the No. 3 pick in 2009 and has since averaged 24.0 points, 7.3 assists and 5.6 rebounds across 1,221 games with six teams. He was the 2018 MVP and has made 11 All-Star squads.
