Turkish window closes tomorrow
The transfer window shut on Tuesday night in France and across Europe’s biggest leagues. Turkey, though, stays open until tomorrow. Those extra 48 hours change plenty for Super Lig clubs, who are still free to shop while everyone else has packed up.
Istanbul BB plan to take advantage. The Istanbul club want Batista Mendy, the 26-year-old midfielder under contract at Trabzonspor until 2027. According to Foot Mercato, officials are pushing hard behind the scenes to get the deal done before Friday’s deadline.

Celta Vigo have walked away
This one was never completely straightforward. Earlier in the week, two clubs had moved on the player: Istanbul BB and Celta Vigo. The Spaniards never turned their interest into a proper offer and pulled out before their own deadline passed.
That leaves the Turks with a clear run. It also weakens Trabzonspor’s hand, with no auction to speak of anymore. A club selling to a single buyer, with hours left on the clock, almost never gets the price it wanted back in June.
Trabzonspor have already changed direction
The situation in Trabzon explains the move. The club confirmed the arrival of Franculino Djú in the early hours of Thursday, and had already agreed a deal with Richarlison the day before. Two attacking additions that point to a rebuild, not a team standing still.
In that kind of set-up, a midfielder whose deal runs to 2027 becomes a piece to move on the board. Letting him go for nothing in 10 months would make no financial sense. Selling now, even if it strengthens a Super Lig rival, makes a lot more sense.
The only issue is the fee. Istanbul BB will have to put it on the table before Friday night, and recent history in the Turkish market suggests these deals tend to drag right to the wire.
