Two goals in seven minutes at San Siro
Inter were losing at the 90-minute mark on Sunday. By the time the referee blew up, they had won 2-1.
Fiorentina had done the hard part. Álvaro Jiménez put them ahead in the 65th minute, and for the next 25 minutes Paolo Vanoli’s side defended like a team that had practiced it all week. Inter had 63% of the ball and put 11 shots on target to Fiorentina’s two, and David de Gea had to make nine saves to keep the lead intact.
Then the added time began. Marcus Thuram equalised in the first minute of it, and Piotr Zielinski, who had come off the bench in the 77th minute, converted a penalty in the 97th to turn the game around. Fiorentina were shown yellow cards for Valde and Dodô in the closing minutes as the match stretched past 100 minutes.

What it means for Chivu’s side
Cristian Chivu has now seen his team win a match it spent most of the afternoon failing to put away. The shot count says Inter deserved more than a single goal long before the late rush, and De Gea’s afternoon explains why they didn’t get it.
For Fiorentina the damage is of a different kind. Leading deep into the 90th minute and leaving San Siro with nothing is the sort of result a squad carries into its next game, and Vanoli will have to answer for how a lead that solid disappeared in seven minutes of added time.
