Nine in a row, and then one night in January
Dallas had beaten the Giants nine consecutive times before Week 18 last season. New York finally got one back, 34-17, and that was only their second win in the series since 2016. Zoom out over the last 18 meetings and the Cowboys are still 16-2. Dak Prescott personally holds a 14-3 record against them.
That is the mess John Harbaugh inherited when New York hired him this offseason. Sunday night in East Rutherford is his first official game on the sideline.
He does bring one useful line of his own. In Baltimore, he went 4-1 against Dallas.
“The Cowboys are the Cowboys. They’re talented, they’re tough,” he said. “A lot of talent on offense, they’re rebuilding their defense, they’ve got a new coordinator coming from a very good system.”

Jaxson Dart is not being asked to calm down
“Most rivalries, I’ve absolutely owned them,” the second-year quarterback said. Confidence is not the issue.
Dart scored nine touchdowns on 86 carries as a rookie, and the concussions that shadowed his 2025 have not convinced Matt Nagy to pull him back. The new offensive coordinator spent years in Kansas City working around Patrick Mahomes and won a division title running the Bears.
Harbaugh also pulled tight end Isaiah Likely out of Baltimore with him. Malik Nabers could suit up Sunday. So could running back Cam Skattebo. Both are coming back from injuries that wiped out their seasons.
511 points allowed, and a checkbook that came out
Dallas gave up 511 points last season, the worst mark in the league, along with 35 passing touchdowns and 125.5 rushing yards a game. The 7-9-1 record followed from there.
So the offseason went almost entirely on that side of the ball. Quinnen Williams got an extension. Dee Winters and Rashan Gary came in via trade. Safety Caleb Downs went 11th overall in the draft.
The offense has its own open file. George Pickens is still without a long-term deal, having combined with CeeDee Lamb for 2,506 receiving yards and 9 of the pair’s 12 touchdowns.
New defensive coordinator Christian Parker has already picked his words. “There is an element of violence and physicality that we want to play with, and that we are going to play with.”
