Eight goals in 12 games, and he is gone
Wydad Casablanca confirmed on Sunday that Hakim Ziyech’s time at the club is finished. The 33-year-old Morocco international is out of contract and free to sign wherever he likes.
The club statement did little to hide the disappointment. “This chapter may not have lasted as long as we had hoped,” Wydad said, thanking the player and insisting he stays “a member of the Wydad family”.
Short stay, loud numbers. Twelve matches, eight goals. Two goals every three appearances is not the sort of return you usually get from a player winding down after a European career.

Ajax, Chelsea, Galatasaray, then home
Ziyech turned up in Casablanca with a serious CV behind him. Ajax first, where he ran the show for a team that startled Europe. Chelsea next, where the output never matched the billing. Galatasaray after that.
Coming back to Morocco meant something. A national team regular signing for one of the country’s two biggest clubs, in a Botola trying to hold onto its names instead of watching them leave.
His form said the same. Eight in 12 is not a player fading out, which is exactly why the split raises questions that go beyond what he was doing on the pitch.
Botafogo, and a market that is still open
With no fee to negotiate, Ziyech picks his next club himself. His name has already drifted out of Africa.
Foot Mercato report talk of a possible move to Botafogo in Brazil. Nothing confirmed. Neither club has said a word about talks.
He is 33 and still has takers. Where he wants to go is the part nobody knows yet.
