Four at-bats, four hits, one double short
Gunnar Henderson missed the cycle by a double. Everything else went his way in West Sacramento.
The Baltimore shortstop went 4-for-4 with two home runs and five runs batted in as the Orioles beat the Athletics 8-5 on Sunday afternoon, closing out a three-game sweep. A single, a triple, two balls over the wall. The double never came.
Five RBIs is a big afternoon in any context. It was a bigger one here, because Baltimore had spent six weeks unable to win three in a row against anybody.

The first sweep since July
The last time the Orioles took all three games of a series was in Houston, July 17-19, the first set after the All-Star break. Nothing since. That run ended against an Athletics side who could not get their starter through five innings.
Jeffrey Springs lasted 4 2/3 for the hosts and gave up seven runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out six, which reads better than the rest of the line deserves. The left-hander is now 3-13 on the season.
Chris Bassitt was not sharp either. Baltimore’s starter allowed eight hits and five runs across 5 2/3 innings against the club he used to pitch for, and still walked off with the win to move to 6-4. Yennier Cano handled the ninth without fuss for his third save.
What the Athletics had left
Sacramento did not go quietly. Lawrence Butler doubled home two runs and Brian Serven hit a two-run homer, keeping the margin tight enough that Cano had to come out and finish the thing properly.
Three runs was the gap at the end. Henderson had driven in five of the eight on his own.
