Patrick Bailey and Brayan Rocchio each went deep twice, with Rocchio adding a pair of back-to-back homers in the ninth just to make the celebration louder. Chase DeLauter chipped in a third long ball. Steven Kwan and Travis Bazzana both racked up three hits, and Nathaniel Lowe drove in four. Starter Tanner Bibee took three runs off the chin in the first inning, then didn’t allow another over his next six.

A Bye, a Warning Label, and a Busy Night Elsewhere
The division crown comes with a direct ticket into the Division Series as the AL’s No. 2 seed, no wild-card round required. Cleveland has now won nine of its last ten, the kind of form nobody in the AL wants to see arrive in October.
Saturday’s slate was loaded with its own stakes. San Diego clinched home field for the wild-card round by beating Arizona 10-7. Tampa Bay, already locked into the AL’s top seed, beat the Phillies 12-1, a team that has now lost its grip on the season entirely. Milwaukee secured a first-round bye of its own, a fourth straight NL Central title in the bag after a 3-2 win over St. Louis, and Detroit walked off Pittsburgh 4-3 on Eduardo Valencia’s two-run homer in the ninth.
Bibee’s final line: seven innings, three runs, all of them in the first, none across the six that followed. A bullpen that could have been stretched thin in a division-clinching game barely had to warm up.
The Last Start
Justin Verlander made the final start of his career on Saturday, closing the book on a 266-159 record spanning parts of three decades. No storybook finish was needed. Cleveland’s night took care of the headlines, and Verlander’s farewell will have to settle for a footnote in a day that belonged to a division title.
