A quick return in 12 months
Jack Grealish has barely had time to unpack. The England winger had only just forced his way back into minutes at Manchester City under Enzo Maresca. Now he is on the move again. Everton have landed him on a season-long loan, with the two clubs understood to have agreed a deal, according to The Athletic, and a medical set for Tuesday.
The 30-year-old knows the place well. He spent last season with the Toffees, making 22 appearances, scoring 2 goals and providing 6 assists, before a foot fracture brought his campaign to a sharp halt. The numbers are modest for a winger City paid 100 million pounds to bring in from Aston Villa in 2021, but Everton clearly liked enough of what they saw to come back for more.

Everton fill one gap by reopening another
The timing is no accident. Everton have just sold Iliman Ndiaye to Manchester City in a deal agreed on Monday worth around 75 million euros. The Merseyside club loses its most influential winger and, in the mirror move, gets back a player from the same club in the same area of the pitch.
Everton had already turned away several approaches for Grealish this summer before finally striking terms with City. The loan runs for one season. No option to buy has been announced at this stage.
A window that will not come around often
At 30, after a season disrupted by injury and with a contract still tying him to Manchester City, Grealish is taking a chance that will not keep coming back. Everton are promising him minutes and a central role on the left wing. City, meanwhile, are trimming a wage bill that had become harder to defend for a player who had slipped out of the rotation.
