One week left to make the cut that matters
The regular season ends at Sedgefield. The Wyndham Championship, in Greensboro, North Carolina, closes the PGA Tour’s regular schedule from Thursday through Sunday, and the math is unforgiving for anyone outside the top 70. Finish the week inside that number and you play the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Miss it and your season is over.
Scottie Scheffler tops the FedEx Cup standings and has nothing to prove here. The drama sits lower down the board. Shane Lowry sits 60th and is the only player ranked between 60 and 80 who skipped the field, a bet that his cushion holds. Brooks Koepka arrives 86th, needing a strong week just to climb inside the line. Chris Kirk showed last year how tight the margins run: his tie for fifth was the only result that pushed a player into the top 70 after the final putt.

Cameron Young defends, history against him
Cameron Young returns as defending champion and chases something no one has managed in 70 years. Win again at Sedgefield and he becomes the first back-to-back Wyndham winner since Sam Snead in 1956. The field thins out at the top, which leaves room for a bubble name to grab the 1.53 million dollar winner’s share and rewrite his autumn. Jackson Koivun, Harry Hall and Aldrich Potgieter all sit in that 60-to-70 range where one good Sunday flips a season.
The Wyndham carries weight beyond the standings. First played in 1938, it ranks among the tour’s oldest events and has called Sedgefield home since 2008. Michael Thorbjornsen will not build on his Rocket Classic breakthrough here after withdrawing on Sunday, with Justin Lower taking his place.
LIV heads back to Bedminster
LIV Golf runs the same weekend in New York, returning to Trump National Bedminster for the first time since 2023. Jon Rahm leads the individual race and the 4Aces top the team table. Cameron Smith defends the title he won here in 2023, when his seven-shot rout of Anirban Lahiri set the widest winning margin in LIV history. He has not won a tournament since.
