Tiger Woods was filmed on Tuesday morning at Liberty National in New Jersey. The American was working on his tee shots. The clip was tiny, but it was enough to race around social media within hours.
And just like that, the comeback chatter started up again. Woods? He didnt promise a thing. No commitment, no date, no tournament.
His appearance in New Jersey had a simpler explanation. The 50-year-old is preparing for the Nexus Cup, a team amateur event he stages to support his TGR Foundation. On Tuesday, he hosted a clinic as part of the occasion. With spectators looking for tips, he was asked how his game is holding up. His reply: “I can hit just about everything.”

Two years without a tournament
The 15-time major winner has not played a single official event since 2024. His last win came even further back: the Zozo Championship in 2019.
His body tells the real story. The 2021 car crash left his right leg badly damaged. That was followed by seven back surgeries, including a disc replacement last October. Each time, the calendar went out the window.
The legal side added another headache. Around two weeks ago, Woods entered a no contest plea to dangerous driving and refusing a urine test at a court hearing in Martin County, Florida. He accepted two five-year licence suspensions to be served at the same time and a $1,000 fine. In return, the drunken-driving charge linked to his March crash was dropped.
What the video tells us, and what it doesnt
It shows a 50-year-old hitting balls on a course. Thats it. Woods is nowhere near any entry list.
The tour rolls on without him. The FedEx Cup Fall begins on Thursday with the Biltmore Championship, and Justin Thomas has already pulled out. Woods has been watching from a distance for two full seasons.
Still, he is hitting balls, and saying so publicly. Given that medical file, thats news enough.
