Golf: Jenny Shin ends 10-year wait at Scottish Open

Ten years, and finally a second title

Jenny Shin ended a wait of 3,738 days on Sunday, holding on to win the Women’s Scottish Open at Dundonald Links. It was the South Korean’s first LPGA Tour victory since the 2016 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout.

Shin led from the front all week and became the second wire-to-wire winner on the LPGA Tour this season. She finished at 9-under and beat A Lim Kim by two shots.

A closing round that tested her nerve

The finish did not come easy. Shin carded a 3-over 75 on the final day and reeled off three straight bogeys down the stretch as her lead shrank. She admitted panic crept in before she steadied herself and tapped in for bogey on the 18th to seal it.

Kim pushed hard behind her but ran out of holes. Shin’s early cushion, built across the first three rounds, handed her just enough room to survive the late wobble.

What the win means

A decade between LPGA titles tests most careers to breaking point. Shin, now 33, kept grinding through it and walked off Dundonald with the trophy and a two-shot margin that looked far calmer on the scoreboard than it felt on the course.
