A winger and a defender, and that is the whole list
Gian Piero Gasperini did not pad it out. Asked about the closing hours of the window, the Roma head coach named two positions and stopped there.
“To complete the squad, we still need one player on the left wing, and we fully intend to bring him in,” he said at Monday morning’s press conference. The foot does not matter to him. “It doesn’t matter whether the new winger is right-footed or left-footed, I look at the player as a whole.” At the back he wants a full-back and a centre-back.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports the club fully expect to get both done before the deadline.

De Roon’s arrival changed the maths
Two signings are already in the building: Marten De Roon, and Leonardo Balerdi from Marseille. Gasperini reckons the De Roon deal opened up the financial room to chase what is left.
His logic on squad building is worth hearing. “So far, we have changed the squad a lot rather than the starting eleven, in order to make it more competitive given the number of matches we have to play.” Depth over disruption, with a heavy fixture list coming.
Soule stays, and the coach is tired of the question
One rumour got killed off. Matias Soule is not going anywhere. No offer has landed for the Argentine, Gasperini said, and he still wants him around.
He also asked for patience with Lulli, signed to plug the midfield gap, and pushed back on the expectation being loaded onto him. “If two new signings arrive, we will be complete.” Kick-off is tomorrow night.
