A deal that moved fast this morning
Manuel Angel is closing in on a move to Fulham. According to Spanish daily AS, the transfer of the 22-year-old midfielder is now all but done after talks picked up pace over the last few hours.
Look at how the deal is built. The player would leave Real Madrid permanently, yet the Spanish club would keep hold of part of his economic rights. Not a loan. Not a straight sale either. Real are leaving themselves a back door on the future of a player raised at La Fabrica.

Arbeloa’s fingerprints all over it
Alvaro Arbeloa knows Manuel Angel well. He coached him at Castilla and made him one of his key men there.
The midfielder captained the Real youth side that completed a treble in 2023. Arbeloa was also the man who handed him his first-team debut last season. A month into his Premier League job, the Spanish coach is still fishing in a pool he helped fill.
In England, the player could also link up with Gonzalo and Exequiel Palacios, according to the same report.
Cadiz and Almeria running out of runway
Both Spanish clubs remain interested in the midfielder. Fulham, though, appear to have the edge, and the latest round of talks is expected to close it out.
The calendar helps. The transfer window shuts in the next few days in both England and Spain, leaving rivals almost no room to jump back into the race.
