His 1.70 expected goals dwarfs the 0.51 of Alex Scott, the alternative from the same squad. Liverpool are the visitors. The Reds still look soft at the back, and Andoni Iraola gets a shot at his old club.
Thierno Barry, the punt almost nobody has taken
Everton never replaced Beto after his move to Fiorentina, then missed on Folarin Balogun on deadline day. So Thierno Barry is David Moyes’s only recognised No 9, and he already has two full matches in his legs.
One goal so far, against Palace on the opening weekend. The positions he keeps finding tell a different story. Only Erling Haaland, on 3.34, tops his 2.98 non-penalty expected goals, and Barry has five big chances to the Norwegian’s seven.
