Five minutes from villain to match-winner
In the 88th minute at Gillette Stadium, VAR sent the referee to the monitor and the decision went against Peyton Miller: handball in the box. Martin Ojeda converted the penalty, Orlando City had a 2-2 draw in hand, and the 18-year-old New England full-back had just given away a lead his team had held for 69 minutes.
Five minutes later Miller collected a pass from Ilay Feingold on the right side of the area and finished with his left foot. Carles Gil added a fourth three minutes after that. New England beat Orlando 4-2 overnight, and both of their scorers ended the night with a brace.

Turner keeps it level before the Revs take over
Gil opened the scoring in the 19th minute, dribbling to his left and chipping the ball in from just outside the box. Orlando should have replied twice inside the next ten minutes, but Matt Turner pushed away efforts from Ojeda and Marco Pasalic.
The first-half numbers were emphatic: nine shots to three, more than 62 percent of the ball. Miller doubled the lead in the 59th minute with his seventh goal of a season he began as a teenager with no guaranteed starting place, Dor Turgeman supplying the assist. Turgeman finished with two of those.
Ivan Angulo dragged Orlando back into it in the 62nd, a right-footed strike past a diving Turner, and the visitors kept coming until the handball gave them their equaliser. New England finished with 17 shots to nine.
Second place in the East changes hands
The three points move New England to 46 from 26 games and past Inter Miami into the second seed in the Eastern Conference. It is their third consecutive win, and Gil’s 12th goal of the campaign leads the squad.
Orlando drop to 34 points from 26. Their three-match winning run is over and so is a five-game unbeaten stretch that had stood since August 19, a sequence of four wins and a draw that had lifted them clear of the playoff line. They will need to rebuild it quickly with the regular season closing.
