Barca leave Rashford hanging as Bayern Munich enter the race
Marcus Rashford’s future remains one of the murkiest stories of the early transfer window. Determined to leave Manchester United for good, the England international is still hoping to land at FC Barcelona. But while he waits for a straight answer from the Catalan hierarchy, Bayern Munich are turning up the heat.
According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Rashford has still not received any final green light from Barca. That keeps the uncertainty swirling around his future, with several clubs keeping a close eye on developments.
Barcelona still have not made a call
Over the past few months, talks between Rashford’s camp and Barcelona officials had suggested a positive ending was on the cards. Hansi Flick is said to have liked the England forward’s profile and his ability to play in several attacking roles.
But the picture has changed. The signing of Anthony Gordon for a fee believed to be more than 70 million euros has shifted the club’s priorities. At the same time, Raphinha remains an important part of the squad and retains the backing of the coaching staff.
In those circumstances, Barcelona are taking their time before deciding whether to trigger the buy option, set at around 30 million euros. It’s a delay that is starting to weigh on the situation.
Manchester United are waiting for a solution
Under contract until 2028 with Manchester United, Rashford no longer looks likely to make a long-term return to Old Trafford. The English club are now open to a permanent exit and are looking for a solution that suits everyone involved.
The 28-year-old forward still carries real value in the European market. His experience at the top level, his England pedigree and his knack for producing in big moments continue to attract interest from a number of suitors.
Aston Villa are monitoring the situation, but right now Bayern Munich look the strongest challengers to Barcelona.
Bayern move in
Long focused on other targets to strengthen their attack, the Bavarian club have had to rethink after a series of setbacks in the market. According to the German press, several names are under review, including Eli Junior Kroupi, Mika Godts, Matias Fernandez-Pardo, Gabriel Martinelli, Rafael Leao and Marcus Rashford.
The Mirror say the Munich hierarchy would be ready to offer close to 34.5 million euros to persuade Manchester United to sell. That would be more than the figure being discussed in Barcelona.
The main sticking point, though, is Rashford’s wages. Bayern are said to be reluctant to match the Englishman’s current pay packet, believed to be around 325,000 euros a week.
🚨 Bayern Munich are keen on signing Marcus Rashford, but his wages are proving to be the biggest stumbling block in negotiations with Manchester United.

A decision expected in the coming weeks
For Marcus Rashford, Barcelona are still the priority. He now wants to know whether the Catalan club are ready to act, or whether they’ll move on to other attacking options.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are working behind the scenes and could benefit from Barcelona’s hesitation to steal a march. As the window wears on, the pressure is only growing on the Blaugrana board.
This deal is now reaching a critical stage. If Barcelona continue to stall, the German club could turn their interest into a formal bid and completely reshape Rashford’s future.
