From tears to a deal, reports say
Paulo Fonseca’s emotional night at the Groupama Stadium may have been a goodbye after all. According to RMC Sport, the Lyon coach has reached an agreement with Sporting to replace Rui Borges in Lisbon.
RMC cites Fabrizio Romano, whose report A Bola also backed, saying the Portuguese manager is now close to joining the club he supports. The tears came after Lyon’s 2-0 win over Angers, when Corentin Tolisso scored the second and hugged his coach. Fonseca left the pitch crying at the final whistle. He did not confirm a departure but called it “a possibility.”

What happens next at Lyon and Sporting
Borges has had a patchy start to the season, and RMC says he could leave next week at the start of the international break, unless Sporting move before then. Sporting are third in the Liga Portugal.
Fonseca has previously managed AC Milan, Porto, Lille and Roma. The question now is who takes over at Lyon, who are third in Ligue 1 and twelfth in the Europa League phase table. RMC expects the club to announce its plans quickly.
