Thirty-three, thirty-six, thirty-one
Those are the three game times. None of them reached the 40-minute mark. FlyQuest beat Sentinels 3-0 overnight to close out the upper-bracket quarter-finals of the LCS Summer Split, and they did it from the blue side every single time.
Fahad “Massu” Abdulmalek finished 23/6/21. Johnson “Gryffinn” Le and Song “Quad” Soo-hyung both landed 10 kills at plus 7. The MVP nod went elsewhere though, to Ibrahim Samet Bulut, better known as “GaKGos”, whose 11/5/28 line was the connective tissue of the whole series.
Sentinels had one player keep his head above water. Cho “Rahel” Min-seong walked away with 9 kills and a plus 2 differential. Everyone else drowned.

Fifth beats fourth, and seeding stops mattering
Eight teams contest the LCS Summer Split. It opened on 25 July and runs into October, with a seven-week round-robin regular season, each team facing the others once over a best-of-three, deciding who goes where.
LYON and Team Liquid, the top two, skipped ahead to the semi-finals. Third through sixth dropped into the quarter-finals. The bottom two went home.
FlyQuest were fifth. Sentinels were fourth and therefore the favourites, at least on a spreadsheet. Ninety-nine minutes of League of Legends later, that reading looked ridiculous.
Team Liquid are the next problem
Cloud9 had already set the tone Saturday, dispatching Shopify Rebellion 3-0. Two quarter-finals played, two sweeps, not one close game between them.
The bracket is now set. Shopify Rebellion play Sentinels on Friday 18 September in the lower-bracket first round. LYON meet Cloud9 on Saturday 19 in the upper-bracket semi-final. FlyQuest get Team Liquid on Sunday 20.
That Sunday match is where the run gets interesting. Team Liquid finished second and have not played a single playoff game yet, which cuts both ways: rested, or rusty.
