The face said it all
Nobody saw this coming. Ferran Torres included, judging by his expression as he came off in the 73rd minute with the whole Parc des Princes standing.
First Champions League start for PSG. Hat-trick. Paris ran over Slovan Bratislava 6-1 and the Spaniard took the night for himself.
First treble in PSG colours, first in the Champions League, sixth of a career that already includes hat-tricks for Barcelona, Manchester City and Spain.

Replacing Goncalo Ramos, differently
He came in this summer to cover part of what Goncalo Ramos left behind when he joined AC Milan. Ramos was never a guaranteed starter, but he mattered. He came on late, he scored, he flipped games.
Torres has gone about it another way. A double off the bench against Rennes. Five goals in a handful of weeks. Last night he played alongside Ousmane Dembele and Maghnes Akliouche, and Dembele set up two of the three. The Frenchman ended the night with two goals and two assists of his own.
“I don’t think anyone expects that sort of performance. There will be games where he doesn’t score,” Luis Enrique said, already trying to bring the temperature down.
Spain lost its mind, the player did not
The Spanish press reacted within minutes. AS went with “the champion has signed a monster”. Marca put “Oh la la la la Ferran!” on the front page. Mundo Deportivo called it a thunderous debut.
Torres gave himself 7 out of 10. “I’m a very demanding person. What I take from it is that I need to improve physically and technically,” he said in the mixed zone.
Paris needed a night like this. Two draws and a defeat in Ligue 1, a Trophee des Champions lost to Lens. Whether it means anything arrives later, when the opponent is not Slovan Bratislava.
