Fenerbahce make the running
There is a new name on Romelu Lukaku’s list, and it comes from Istanbul. Sky Italia report that Fenerbahce have gone straight to the Belgian striker’s camp. Talks are live. The Turkish side are not treating this as a casual enquiry.
When a club’s president rolls up his sleeves and gets involved himself, you can read the intent. Fenerbahce want this one badly.

Monaco and Napoli fade out
Monaco can look elsewhere. The Principality club kicked the tyres, nothing clicked, and the thread has gone quiet. That door is shut for now.
Napoli are off the pace too. Lukaku’s next chapter looks like it belongs to someone else, and while a switch to MLS keeps getting whispered, it is Fenerbahce dictating the tempo here.
One to keep an eye on
No signatures yet. The negotiation is barely out of the blocks. What is real, though, is how keen the Turkish club are.
Lukaku is turning over a few paths for what comes next. Fenerbahce, fresh from reeling in Mason Greenwood earlier this summer, fancy another headline arrival to sit alongside it.
Maybe it comes off, maybe it stalls in the small print. Either way, Istanbul is where the noise is loudest right now.
