Haula heads to Los Angeles
The Kings got their man. Erik Haula is off to California on a two-year deal, and he lands with a team still hunting for stability through the middle.
He’s 35 now. That still counts for something when the games tighten up. Haula broke into the league back in 2013, and he built his name on versatility and a feel for the ice rather than a fat point total.
Los Angeles adds a centre who can handle a bit of everything, from defensive-zone shifts to a spot on special teams.

Two years, somewhere around 3.5 million dollars a season. Modest money for a veteran who knows exactly what playoff hockey takes out of a body.
The Kings are paying for the positional smarts. The Western Conference is loaded, and depth at centre gets tested over 82 games. Haula has more than a decade of North American hockey behind him, and few of his new teammates can say that.
What it means for the franchise
A key area gets stronger, the cap stays flexible. What the staff actually wants from him once the season opens is the piece still to be settled.
