The backlash has been heavy, and it is all about the timing. Atletico Madrid had just won 2-1.
“Honestly, I can’t believe nobody told this kid what he was doing posting a TikTok after losing a derby, like he doesn’t care at all,” one supporter wrote. Others reached for the obvious comparison, Lamine Yamal in the hours after a Barcelona defeat.
The price tag follows Diomande everywhere. Madrid took him from RB Leipzig this summer for 140 million, one of the biggest fees the club has ever paid, and a number like that turns every appearance into an exam.
The football is actually going fine
