Lucas Digne was back in a Paris shirt on Sunday night. His first start since rejoining PSG ended in a 1-0 defeat to RC Lens in the Trophee des Champions, and Foot Mercato gave the left-back a 3.
Luis Enrique kept rotating. Several changes from the side that played Aston Villa. Digne took the left flank with a clear job: experience, crossing, and helping start moves from deep.
Then Florian Thauvin went to work on him. On the opener in the 32nd minute, Digne lost the Lens captain at the far post as Matthieu Udol’s cross came in. Thauvin hit it first time.

The stats are kinder than the eye test
It was not a disaster. Six of 10 ground duels won, two tackles completed, two recoveries. Several of his defensive interventions did exactly what they needed to. The night was odd, too: Lens played long stretches with 10 men and the referee produced two red cards.
Going the other way, less to like. His crosses kept finding Robin Risser’s gloves, and the keeper was in the mood. The connection with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is not there yet, which is hardly a surprise given how few minutes they have shared.

Nuno Mendes made a case, then made a mess
The Portuguese changed the picture straight away. A long-range effort over the bar first, then a move with Ousmane Dembele and Fabian Ruiz that left him in a perfect spot inside the box. Risser won that one too.
The last 10 minutes turned ugly. Nuno Mendes was sent off in the 87th for an elbow on Michal Skoras, and Paris finished with 10.
Digne has ground to make up. PSG signed the former Aston Villa and Barcelona defender for depth and quality on the left, and one match settles nothing about that. It does say something about where his sharpness is right now.
