Four runs, one inning, done
The Rangers scored all four of their runs in the second inning on Tuesday in Arlington and then spent the rest of the night keeping them. Boston never drew level. Texas won 4-2 to open a three-game series.
Brandon Nimmo and Ezequiel Duran singled. Elias Diaz doubled them both in. Corey Seager followed with a two-out, two-run single, and Patrick Sandoval was gone with two outs in the third, charged with four runs on four hits and two walks. His record dropped to 1-6.

deGrom, five days after the groin scare
Jacob deGrom struck out eight in five innings. He had pitched through groin tightness against Seattle on Thursday, and the only trace of it here was the short outing. Two runs, three hits, one walk, and an 11th win against nine losses.
Both runs came in the third. Caleb Durbin singled to center with one out and Nick Sogard followed with a two-run homer, his fifth of the season. Boston did nothing else against him.
Four Texas relievers covered the last four innings and gave up three hits between them.
Fifteen strikeouts, nine left on base
The Red Sox struck out 15 times, stranded nine runners and went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. They loaded the bases in the fifth and again in the eighth and got nothing out of either.
The ninth gave them one more look. Roman Anthony singled with two outs and the tying run reached the plate. Jacob Latz struck out pinch-hitter Jahmai Jones to end it, his 30th save, capping 1 2/3 scoreless innings with one hit, one walk and three strikeouts.
Texas have won three straight and sit at 75-76, still a game behind Houston in the American League West. Boston fall to 82-69.
