The medical that blew up a done deal
Joel Ordonez was due to sign for Crystal Palace this summer. The Ecuadorian defender’s move collapsed in the last few hours after his medical did not go to plan.
That leaves the Eagles short at centre-back with only a few days until the English window shuts. The club reopened its other files fast.
Italy looks like the route now. According to Foot Mercato, the London side have turned to Udinese and French defender Oumar Solet.

Thirty million for a player with a year left
The plan has changed shape. Palace had been leaning toward a loan with an option to buy. They are now expected to make a straight bid to Udinese, the same report says.
The fee should land between 25 and 30 million euros. Solet is in the final year of his contract in Friuli, which weakens the Italian club’s hand at the table.
The defender comes off a 35-game season, with three goals and one assist. A guaranteed starter, the former France youth international has grown into one of the standout defenders in Serie A.
A tense end to the window at Selhurst Park
Palace had already moved this week by bringing in Axel Disasi on loan. The back line is still being reshaped, and the clock is not on their side.
Price remains the sticking point. Paying close to 30 million for a player with 12 months left only makes sense if Udinese would rather cash in now than lose him for nothing. No formal offer has landed yet.
