160 passing yards, three touchdowns
Kirk Cousins threw for 160 yards on Sunday night. That is a quiet afternoon for a backup, let alone a starter. He turned it into three touchdowns anyway.
Las Vegas beat Miami 27-13 in its opener. Cousins went 21 of 30 with two interceptions. Nothing about the raw line jumps off the page. The scoreboard did the talking.
It was his Raiders debut, after two seasons in Atlanta and a summer move to Nevada.
His best friend on the night was Ashton Jeanty. The running back put up 102 yards on 23 carries and led the team with six catches for 45 yards. Two of those catches finished in the end zone.

Sixteen plays, 93 yards, nine minutes
Las Vegas won this one by refusing to give the ball back. 34 minutes and 53 seconds of possession, 290 total yards.
The opening drive told you everything. Sixteen plays, 93 yards, nearly nine minutes off the clock. Cousins completed all nine of his throws on the series for 64 yards before hitting Jack Bech for a 15-yard score with 1:33 left in the first quarter.
Matt Gay added a 47-yarder. Riley Patterson answered from 41 for Miami. Then Cousins found Jeanty from 13 yards out just before halftime. 17-3.
Malik Willis got one opening and Miami never got another
The Dolphins had their chance. Four plays after Cousins threw his first interception, Willis ran it in from 14 yards for Miami’s only touchdown. 17-13, with 12:44 left in the third.
Five plays later, Cousins went back to Jeanty. That was the game. Gay closed it out from 30 yards.
Willis was making his first start for Miami. He went 15 of 27 for 220 yards with an interception, took five sacks, and converted two of 10 third downs. The Dolphins finished with 259 yards.
On the sideline, Klint Kubiak picked up his first win as Raiders head coach. Gary Kubiak’s son spoiled Jeff Hafley’s debut in Miami.
