Como played the first Champions League match in the club’s history last night and beat RB Leipzig 4-1 at home. That is not a routine opening-night win.

Diao settles it from nowhere
Assane Diao ended the contest on 53 minutes, picked out on the right edge of the box and finishing from an angle that had no business producing a goal. Leipzig responded four minutes later through a superb Maksimovic strike.
Como kept coming. Cunha passed up a good chance to make it four earlier than he should have, and Perrone eventually got the fourth in stoppage time.
A rough welcome for the Red Bull operation. Leipzig found no collective answer to the Italian press across the opening 45 minutes.
Fabregas has built something
Cesc Fabregas is turning this squad into a genuine problem for people. Como had already won at the Maradona against Napoli in Serie A this season, Douvikas again the man who did the damage. The method is consistent: press high, move fast in transition, buy well from neighbouring leagues at prices that do not raise eyebrows.
Diao came from Betis, Douvikas from Celta Vigo, Baturina from Croatia. None of them featured in the summer’s headline business. All three left a mark on a club that treats the league phase as routine.
