Immobile hangs up his boots at 36
Ciro Immobile ended his career on Friday night. The Italian striker announced the news on his social media accounts, and Paris FC confirmed it soon after.
Few saw it coming. Immobile was under contract until 2027 and was due to spend a second season in the capital. He arrived last winter and finished his last campaign with 2 goals and 2 assists in 12 Ligue 1 matches. For a player of his standing, that is a modest return.
“It’s not an easy decision because you’re incredible people. For me, it’s time to spend time with my family,” the Italian said. He also spoke about the pain and the training, about no longer being able to push on, no longer giving everything he had. That tipped the balance.

Lazio, his real home
Trained at Juventus, Immobile burst onto the scene at Pescara in 2011-2012, alongside Lorenzo Insigne and Marco Verratti. Then came Lazio. The Rome club became his hunting ground: 207 goals in 340 matches and two Italian Super Cups to show for it.
The high point came in 2020. Immobile smashed in 36 Serie A goals and claimed the European Golden Shoe, the continent’s top prize for a striker.
His spells abroad told a different story. Dortmund, then Sevilla, between 2014 and 2016. Two straight disappointments. He went back to Italy and barely left again, apart from Besiktas in 2024-2025, where he rediscovered some sharpness. For the national team, he scored 17 goals in 57 caps and was part of the Euro 2020 winning side, starting the final as a regular.
Paris FC loses an anchor
His club paid tribute to 650 matches and more than 320 goals in a career that puts Immobile among the great Italian scorers of his generation.
The sporting problem is obvious. Paris FC now heads into the season without its most experienced striker. The transfer window is still open, and the Paris hierarchy has work to do. Fast.
