NFL: Chiefs bring Emmanuel Ogbah back to Kansas City

Back home

Kansas City already knows Emmanuel Ogbah. The defensive end is heading back to the Chiefs on a one-year deal, per ESPN.

He wore this jersey once before, in 2019. That year ended with a ring, Super Bowl LIV. Six seasons later he walks back into the building where he lifted it.

A veteran who has been around

He is 32 now, with a lot of football behind him. Ogbah is coming off a year in Jacksonville: 15 tackles across 13 games, three of them starts. Modest. That is not the reason Kansas City picked up the phone.

They want the mileage. Forty-eight career sacks. 116 quarterback pressures. 332 tackles. Nine forced fumbles. All of it stacked up over 136 games with the Browns, Chiefs, Dolphins and Jaguars.

Depth that pays off

Cleveland spent the first pick of the second round on him back in 2016. Almost ten years on, he is still a steady body to round out a defensive rotation. The Chiefs are gearing up for the season, and Ogbah already knows the room, the scheme and the city. You do not build that overnight.
