They did not go quietly. Yalcouye got one back, Joao Pedro turned the ball into his own net to make it worse, and Gross made it 3-3 with the ground suddenly very quiet. Palmer settled it. Chelsea 4, Brighton 3, and nobody at the Bridge was sitting down for the last twenty minutes.

Emiliano Martinez’s transfer was announced before lunch. By kick-off he was in Xabi Alonso’s XI. No bench, no bedding-in period, straight into a game that produced seven goals.
Three past him on debut is not the number a keeper wants next to his name, though the defence in front of him kept retreating as the second half wore on. Enzo Fernandez was absent, for reasons Alonso had set out before the match.

At Elland Road, Kevin Schade put Brentford ahead before Calvert-Lewin equalised for Leeds. One apiece, and both clubs stay parked in the middle of the table.
Full 3pm results: Chelsea 4-3 Brighton, Leeds 1-1 Brentford, Sunderland 1-0 Fulham. Manchester United and Ipswich Town close out the day.
