Champions Trophy 2026: Lens-PSG set for Bollaert on August 16
The venue for the 2026 Champions Trophy is now confirmed. RC Lens, the French Cup winners, will take on reigning French champions PSG at Stade Bollaert on Sunday August 16. The decision was made official by the LFP on Wednesday afternoon after the two clubs failed to agree on a host venue in advance. To settle it, the French league turned to a coin toss after its board meeting. Lens came out on top.
Good news, then, for Lens supporters, who had already been hit earlier in the day by news that coach Pierre Sage was eyeing a move away, with Crystal Palace among those keeping tabs on him. Seeing Bollaert handed this showdown with PSG at least gives the north club something to cling to on a mixed day. In Ligue 1 this season, the two league meetings went PSG’s way: a 2-0 win at the Parc des Princes, then another victory at Bollaert.

PSG head into the date looking a bit up and down
For the Paris club, the early-season calendar is already packed. Fresh from winning the Champions League last weekend, PSG will face Aston Villa, the Europa League winners, in the European Super Cup on August 12 in Salzburg. Four days later, they are back at it in the Champions Trophy at Bollaert. Two major dates in under a week for a side that will barely have finished its summer prep.
For Lens, hosting PSG in this format is a rare chance. Stade Bollaert, one of the most intimidating grounds in France, could give the Blood and Gold a real edge against the French and European champions. See you on August 16 for the official launch of the 2026-27 season.
