Hurt nowhere near a football field
Cedric Gray got banged up on a weekend ride. The Tennessee Titans linebacker was involved in an all-terrain vehicle accident in Tennessee, and the team confirmed it Monday.
“Cedric Gray was involved in a UTV accident in Tennessee and sustained a concussion along with minor injuries,” the club said. “We look forward to seeing him back on the field, healthy, once he clears the NFL concussion protocol.”
The 23-year-old is in the protocol now. An independent neurologist has to sign off before he plays again. Nobody has put a date on that.

160 tackles the Titans cannot easily replace
Tennessee hosts the New York Jets on Sunday. Gray’s status is up in the air and the club is saying little.
Losing him would sting. He finished last season as the NFL’s fifth-leading tackler with 160 stops across 16 of 17 games, hitting double figures nine times. Seventeen against Houston on September 28. Sixteen against the Chargers on November 2. Sixteen more against the 49ers on December 14.
The protocol is familiar territory. A concussion cost him the Kansas City game last December 21, the only one he missed all year.
From 22 tackles to 160 in twelve months
Nobody drafted him expecting this pace. A fourth-round pick in 2024 out of North Carolina, Gray spent his rookie year on the bench, 22 tackles in seven appearances.
Then came 2025 and the middle of the Titans defense. That jump does not happen often. Tennessee was building around him for Sunday.
