Carleton takes over in Seattle
Bridget Carleton scored 24 points, drained four three-pointers and dragged the Portland Fire to a 100-93 win over the Seattle Storm on Saturday. The expansion side controlled the scoreboard on the road and pinned an 11th straight defeat on the hosts.
Portland moved to 13-19 on the season. The Fire arrived in form, fresh off a 97-83 win over Toronto on Thursday that had already snapped a five-game skid. Two wins in three days push a young roster in the right direction.

Seattle sink deeper
The Storm fell to 6-28 and wrote an unwanted line in the record book. Seattle became the first franchise in WNBA history to suffer two double-digit losing streaks in a single season. Jade Melbourne fought to the end with 23 points, but the supporting cast never arrived.
The night turned darker with 5:14 left in the third quarter. Flau’jae Johnson was helped off the floor with what looked like an ankle injury, forcing Seattle to reshuffle a rotation already stretched thin.
Where they stand
Portland, at 13-19, keep their faint playoff hopes breathing and now turn to the back end of a schedule that suddenly looks more forgiving. Seattle face the rest of a lost campaign and hope Johnson’s injury proves minor. Carleton, meanwhile, keeps making the case that she belongs at the heart of Portland’s rebuild.
