Carla Leite delivered the best night of her young WNBA season. The French guard piled up 27 points and 11 assists on Thursday, steering the Portland Fire to a 97-83 win over the Toronto Tempo and snapping a five-game losing streak. She went 15 of 17 from the free-throw line, the kind of efficiency that turns a tight game into a comfortable one.

Megan DiLeo added 17 points, while Bridget Carleton posted 10 points and 11 rebounds. Portland shot 50 percent from the floor and buried 11 of 27 from beyond the arc, improving to 2-0 against the expansion Tempo this season.

Toronto trailed by 23 before Nyara Sabally sparked a 13-0 run that trimmed the gap to 89-79 with under four minutes left. DiLeo steadied Portland with a hook shot that ended a scoring drought of nearly five minutes, then added a layup to push the lead back into double digits.

Julie Allemand finished with 11 points and 12 assists for Toronto, which has now lost eight in a row and 12 of its last 13. Marina Mabrey again played through a neck injury and managed nine points in 22 minutes. The two expansion sides sit close in the standings, Portland at 12-19 and Toronto at 10-21.
