Eight threes, and a franchise record that had stood for years
Caitlin Clark hit eight 3-pointers Sunday night in Chicago. A career high. She finished with 37 points and 10 assists as the Indiana Fever ran the Sky off their own floor, 113-90.
The supporting cast did not just watch. Indiana buried 18 shots from behind the arc, a franchise record, and Kelsey Mitchell chipped in 30 of her own. Two 30-point scorers in the same WNBA box score is a rare sight.
Chicago never really threatened. Natasha Cloud put up 16 points and seven assists, Azura Stevens grabbed eight rebounds to go with 14 points, and none of it mattered against an offense that had its foot on the gas from the opening minutes.

Washington’s win slammed the door on Chicago
The defeat stung twice over. When Washington finished off their own game later that night, the Sky were mathematically eliminated from the playoff race. What is left of their season is seeding and minutes for the young players.
Indiana heads home in better shape. The road trip closed at 3-2, and this was their third game in four nights. They had dropped the two before it.
They also did it without Aliyah Boston. The center sat with a right leg issue, and instead of trying to replace her work inside, the Fever simply shot over the top of everyone.
The calendar is closing in
Every remaining game carries more weight now that the standings are tightening. A 37-point, 10-assist night in late August reads differently than the same line in June.
Whether Indiana can keep firing at this rate is another question. Eighteen made threes is not a repeatable formula. But after two straight losses, nobody in that locker room is complaining about how they got this one.
